The Most Sucessful engine supplier in f-1

One cannot really say that...Honda had some great time backing McLaren with their engines ....Ayrton Senna, and Alain Prost to name a few had really good time with Mclaren(senna won 3 championships with Mclaren-Honda)....,Renault williams had some great time with nigel Mansell(won his first championship with renault williams in 1992),mercedes came back into f-1 after an long hiatus in 1994(officially with sauber) but didnt achive much sucessand switched to McLaren in 1995 and acived some great sucess after that (mostly after 1998 when they won a championship),mika haikkenen, kimi raikkonen, david coulthard being some notable drivers,
ferrari(scuderia ferrari) are although considered as the most sucessful f-1 team in history of f-1 with record of 15 drivers' championships and 15 constructors' championships won...

as such in f-1,...engines hardly matter the performance of the cars, nowadays the performance is more to do with aerodynamics and other factors...as fia has strict regulations with the development of engines....so at present the only thing f-1teams have in their hand for developing the engine is increasing the reliablity and fuel effiency which may help them gamble with the fuel strategies and reliable engine may help lessen the blowing of the engines(hondas recently were quite infamous for their constant engine blow ups).....looking at the statastics ferrari is one of the most reliable and sucessful engine on the grid..with 15 constructors and 15 drivers championships to their name...

origin of phrase 'pole position'

the origin of the word pole position is from horse racing...now a days we have chequered flag waved by a person but in olden times the chequered flag was hoisted on an pole which and was positioned at the begning of the grid....hence the person starting closest to the chequered flag or the start finish line was called to be on the pole...or in proper english he is actually near the pole....hence the phrase pole position....
